All About Thrive Life

Last week I posted about how to determine Which Food Storage Company is Right for You.
Today and over the next several weeks I will be reviewing various food storage and emergency preparedness companies, and giving you the insider information you need to make the best decision possible.

Today I will be writing about

Thrive Life is a local Utah company based out of American Fork.  Within the past few years they have completely revamped their marketing strategy, company name (formerly Shelf Reliance), and logo.  They started about 10 years ago by selling custom food storage shelving units, and have gradually shifted their focus primarily to their private food line,

They offer over 150 different types of food, anything from baking powder to freeze dried meats and yogurt bites, with gluten free options as well.

LOCATIONS:
Thrive Life has only one main showroom:
691 South Automall Drive
American Fork, UT 84003

You walk inside and quickly realize that it is all about the food here.  Samples of their most popular products are available for snacking, allowing you to try nearly all food types before purchasing.
Most of their orders are handled online, but you have the ability to pick up your items for free at the showroom.  You can also purchase items here upon arrival, but quantities are limited.
Though they only have one showroom, shipping is available to all 50 states, including Alaska and Hawaii.  They also provide shipping services for Canada, Puerto Rico and Japan.

PACKAGING and SHIPPING:
Everything Thrive Life currently sells is fit for long term storage.  They offer:
pouches
pantry cans
#10 cans
6 gallon buckets
**Of the 150+ types of food, only a small amount are available in the pouch and bucket size.

SHIPPING INFORMATION:
$0 - $80: $7.99
$80.01 - $140: $10.99
$140.01 - $200: $14.99
$200.01 - $400: $20.99
$400.01+: 6% of order total

WHAT MAKES THEM DIFFERENT:
Of all food storage companies, Thrive Life is set apart by 2 things:
The home parties are designed to allow people to "try out" the food before making the investment.  As a host you are compensated by earning free and half off product based on purchases made at your party.  They also provide generous incentives for guests to host their own parties as well.
All parties are run by an independent Thrive Life consultant, who also gets benefits and commission based on the sales made.  Anybody can be a consultant for Thrive Life, which provides at home and part time work opportunities for several different lifestyles.

DO YOU HAVE TO ORDER THROUGH A CONSULTANT, OR GO TO A PARTY?
No, but you will receive bigger discounts and incentives through a consultant, so it is recommended.

DO THEY HAVE A MONTHLY PROGRAM?
Yes.  Thrive Life offers what they call The Q.  It is a monthly auto ship program designed to help you build your food storage on a budget of your choosing.  You can select pre assembled kits, or you can customize your shipment each month.  The best thing about Thrive Life's monthly program is that you are not limited by budget.  You can spend anywhere from $5 - $5000+ each month, and you'll have the ability to pick and choose items specifically, or allow their system to do it for you.
(You can play around with the Q by clicking here - you'll need to create an account with Thrive Life, but you won't have any commitments unless you complete all of the steps and enter your credit card information).

DO THEY OFFER EMERGENCY PRODUCTS?
Currently, yes.  But as their company grows they continue to focus more on food and less on anything else.  As of today, all of the emergency supplies they have are being discontinued; they are selling only what they have in stock, and will be focusing on food only items once they are gone.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO BUY IF PURCHASING ALL AT ONCE?
Black Friday.  Every year during the Big Black Friday Sale each and every food item is discounted, upwards to 50% off.  Combine this with the benefits a consultant will offer and you will save a small fortune.  They offer a similar sale each year around March as well.
** If you would like to be alerted of these sales, send an email to myfamilyprepared@gmail.com with the subject "Black Friday" and I will add you to the list.

THRIVE LIFE CON'S:
Some of the best food storage deals and financial advantages must be made through an Independent Consultant, and by taking advantage of the host benefits.  If you were hoping to fly solo, this aspect is definitely a disadvantage.

Virtually no selection of pre made meals with an extended, long term shelf life.  If your idea of food storage is pre-made meals, this is not the place for you.

Only one location.  If you live outside of Utah county, factor in shipping costs.

THRIVE LIFE PRO'S:
Their showroom features samples of most popular food items, allowing you to try them before purchasing

Overall quality of food is remarkable

HUGE selection of freeze dried and dehydrated foods

Home parties (by hosting in person or online) allows you to earn free and half off products

Consulting opportunity results in major financial discounts, as well as added income

The Monthly Q Program will accommodate any budget; as low as $5 per month

They offer monthly sales, so you are able to take advantage of discounts monthly if you choose to buy over an extended period of time.
** If you are intetersted in receiving monthly sale information, send an email to myfamilyprepared@gmail.com with the subject heading "Thrive Life Monthly Sales" and I will get you added to the list.

WHAT I LIKE ABOUT THEM, AND WHY I CHOOSE TO BUY FROM THIS COMPANY:
They are local.  I love saving on shipping costs and having them 15 minutes away.  I can try out new items before I buy them and overall they have a good customer service team.

I love the HUGE variety of different types of food that they offer, as well as the overall quality.  They pride themselves in providing the best, and I can see the difference, from quick oats and cornmeal, to pineapple.

I choose to buy from Thrive Life because their individual consulting option provides the opportunity for huge savings and major discounts.  Even if you are your only customer, getting paid commission and getting free and half off benefits from personal orders will end up saving you a bundle.  It does require work, but this is by far the cheapest option for building your long term storage.
**If you are interested in consulting, you can sign up online here.  You have to sign up under an existing consultant, so you will need the following information:
Name: Michelle Denna
Consultant ID #7158
Email: myfamilyprepared@gmail.com

WHAT SENDS ME SEARCHING ELSEWHERE:
Though they offer a lot of products that I love and use often, some things are cheaper at other places.  Most all of their grains, for example, are easily accessible to me for at least half the price elsewhere.  This is also true for basics: salt, sugar, yeast, etc.

WHAT I CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT:
The freeze dried sausage crumbles are hands down my favorite product.  We will never be without them.

I hope this helped answer any questions you had about Thrive Life.  I would love to hear your thoughts about the company as well.  Feel free to leave a comment or ask a question and I'll do my best to answer it.

  1. Hey there, don't know if this site is still active, but I appreciate the review on Thrive Life. You are lucky to live so close to the shop. I'm curious on the part that says " Even if you are your only customer, getting paid commission and getting free and half off benefits from personal orders will end up saving you a bundle." The way I was reading the info on the Thrive Life website makes it sound like you can only get 5% off anything above $50 if you're a consultant. Thanks, C. Kirkpatrick

    1. Chimene,
To be an active consultant you must have a Q of $50/month. If you spend more than that, you make 5% on everything over the $50 amount. However, if you put in a separate order altogether, you get 10% in free product and the amount you spend goes towards half off product as well. I hope that answered your question. Feel free to email me directly if you need a better explanation: myfamilyprepared@gmail.com
